Hear from Kirsty Bates, Brixton-based Community Fundraiser for Refuge, about the campaign to end domestic violence and the work of Refuge here in Lambeth. Refuge has led the campaign against domestic violence since 1971. It is now the country’s largest single provider of specialist domestic and gender-based violence services, supporting over 6,000 women and children at a time.
In Brixton, Refuge runs the pioneering Gaia Centre, which provides support services for people of all genders living in the London Borough of Lambeth, including: an outreach service, a specialist independent gender-based violence advocacy team, an early intervention service and specialist service for young women, and peer and group support schemes.
To raise money for Refuge we will be accepting donations for cake and holding a raffle for the chance to win a framed print of Brockwell Park by Place in Print.
We will also be making some festive bunting to help decorate a local refuge for Christmas.
8pm at the Prince Regent.
